Welcome to Morocco Desert Discovery

Morocco Desert Tours Planned by the Family That Lives in the Dunes

Morocco Desert Discovery isn’t a tour company that read about the Sahara in a guidebook. I’m Brahim — I grew up in a village at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where the sand turns gold at sunrise and finds its way into everything you own. My family has been welcoming guests into the desert for over a decade, and we now run our tours from Marrakech, reaching every corner of this country we call home.

We plan private trips from Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Rabat, Agadir, Ouarzazate and Errachidia — desert crossings, Atlas mountain passes, blue streets in Chefchaouen, ancient medinas in Fes where the smell of cedar shavings follows you for blocks. We’re a licensed, fully bonded Moroccan tour operator, but what that really means is: we’re a family that decided to do this properly, with our own drivers, our own guides, and our own standards.

No buses. No crowds. No scripts. Every trip is private — your people, your rhythm, your detours. We work directly with the riads, the desert camps, and the families we’ve known for years, so there are no middlemen and no inflated prices. Just honest planning from people who live here.

Why Our Morocco Desert Tours Are Different

There are plenty of companies selling Morocco desert tours online. The difference with us is simple: we’re from here. We know which desert camp cooks the best dinner under the stars, which dune ridge in the Erg Chebbi is quiet at sunrise, which mountain pass has the view that makes you stop the car and just stand there for a minute. That kind of knowledge doesn’t come from a supplier list — it comes from growing up in Merzouga and spending years on every road in this country.

We’ve built real relationships with the people who make your trip work — riad owners in Fes and Marrakech, camel handlers near our village, camp families in the Erg Chebbi. We eat with them, we visit them, we hold them to the standard we’d want for our own family. If a lodge or a camp drops below that standard, we stop using them for our Morocco desert tours. No exceptions.

We’ve put together routes we know work well — a 3-day Fes to Marrakech desert crossing, a 6-day Tangier to Marrakech loop, a 10-day grand circuit, quick day trips to Chefchaouen. But the best Morocco desert tours are usually the ones we build together from scratch. You tell us what matters — your dates, your budget, whether it’s a honeymoon or you’ve got three kids under ten — and we shape the rest around that.

Your Trip, Built Around You

Morocco Desert Tours Built Around You — Not a Template

What sets our Morocco desert tours apart isn’t just the route — it’s the people you meet along the way. We arrange stops the big operators can’t, because they don’t know these families. Tea with a nomad family in the dunes near our home, where you sit on a carpet and the conversation goes wherever it goes. An afternoon with Gnawa musicians in Khamlia — not a staged show, just people playing the music they’ve always played. A walk through a fortified kasbah in the Draa Valley where the keeper tells you its real history, not the guidebook version.

Every multi-day Morocco desert tour includes a night at a camp in the Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga dunes. You ride camels out as the sun drops, sleep under more stars than you knew existed, and wake up to watch the first light turn the sand gold. I’ve seen it hundreds of times and it still gets me. That part never gets old. Our vehicles are comfortable — air-conditioned 4x4s for desert routes, larger vans when you need them — and every driver is Berber, knows the roads by heart, and speaks English. Many speak French, Spanish or Italian too.

We’ve planned Morocco desert tours around every kind of interest — Game of Thrones locations at Aït Ben Haddou, birdwatching in Souss-Massa, photographers who needed a specific ridge before first light, couples who just wanted a quiet camp and a clear sky. Whatever the shape of your trip, we’ll make it fit. When you’re ready, send me a message — I’m Brahim, and I’ll write back myself. From the first email to the airport drop-off, you’re dealing with us. Not a call centre. Not a chatbot. A family that’s proud of where we’re from, and wants you to see why.

Tea’s on us when you arrive.

  • Booked a 3-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour and it was the best decision I made. The landscapes between Fes and the Sahara — the Ziz Valley palm oasis, the Todra Gorge, the Erg Chebbi dunes — are unlike anything I have seen in years of travel. The guide was knowledgeable, funny, and incredibly professional. Highly recommended!

Our guide was phenomenal — he knew every legend behind every Kasbah, every star in the Sahara sky, and every hidden gem in the Draa Valley. The camel trek at sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Cannot recommend highly enough.

  • Absolutely spectacular 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour. From crossing the High Atlas Mountains to the moment our camels crested that first dune and I saw the Sahara stretching out forever — it was genuinely life-changing. The Berber desert camp was comfortable and the food was incredible. Morocco Desert Discovery — zero complaints, 100% will return!

  • I took a Chefchaouen day trip from Fes followed by a 3-day Fes to Marrakech Sahara tour. Both were expertly organized. The Blue City is even more stunning in person and the Sahara night was surreal — total silence, a million stars, and the warmth of Berber hospitality. Morocco Desert Discovery genuinely cares about creating memories. Exceptional company.

  • We did the 6-day Tangier to Marrakech tour via Chefchaouen and the Sahara. What a journey. Every single day delivered something extraordinary — the Blue City, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, imperial Fes, the golden dunes of Merzouga. Morocco Desert Discovery’s planning was flawless and our guide was one of the best we have had in 15 years of world travel.

  • Booked a 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour with Morocco Desert Discovery during my first visit to Africa. Absolutely incredible. The contrast between the ancient Kasbahs of Ait Ben Haddou and the vast silence of the Sahara Desert in Merzouga is indescribable. Our guide spoke excellent English and was always punctual and professional. Cannot wait to return for the 14-day Morocco grand tour!
